According to the news agency EFE, the ICE agent involved in the death of a woman in Minneapolis had been dragged by a car months earlier during an immigration raid, according to local media reports.

That incident occurred in June, when the agent was participating in the arrest of a Mexican national who had previously been convicted and detained, according to court documents cited in the reports.

The driver ignored police orders, including commands to roll down the window, prompting the agent to break the rear window and insert his arm into the vehicle.

At that moment, the car sped off, dragging the agent for approximately 100 meters and causing an injury to his forearm that required 20 stitches.

Official Version Regarding the Minnesota ICE Agent

The agent’s past has been cited by the administration of Donald Trump to support its version of the shooting that occurred during the protest in Minneapolis.

According to the government, the agent fired his weapon because the woman drove her vehicle toward him while blocking the path of federal agents.

Vice President JD Vance stated that the agent may be particularly sensitive to situations in which a vehicle poses a direct threat to his personal safety.

Members of the administration have expressed full support for ICE agents and have gone so far as to label the victim’s actions as domestic terrorism.

The official version has been rejected by thousands of citizens who protested following the death of Renee Good during a demonstration against ICE.

Political leaders and protesters argue that the shots fired by the agent constituted an abuse of power by federal authorities.

Good died while blocking the agents’ path with her vehicle and maneuvering during the raid, before being shot.

The incident took place in a city marked by past cases of police violence, where in 2020 the killing of George Floyd triggered nationwide protests.

Context and Consequences of the Minneapolis Case

Renee Good’s death occurred during a protest against ICE amid a heavy federal deployment and rising social tension.

Since early December, the U.S. government has sent around 2,000 federal agents to Minneapolis to reinforce immigration enforcement operations.

The city had already been the epicenter in 2020 of the killing of George Floyd, an event that sparked massive protests against police violence across the country.

Since its creation, Immigration and Customs Enforcement has faced criticism for discrimination and racism—allegations that have intensified during Trump’s second term.

Persistent Public Outrage Over Renee Good’s Death

The case has generated widespread public anger, with thousands rejecting the official narrative and expressing ongoing outrage over ICE’s actions.

Although authorities defended the agent and justified the use of force, many citizens consider the explanations provided by the federal government insufficient.

President Trump’s stance and the administration’s full backing of ICE agents have failed to calm public frustration or halt continuing protests.

For many demonstrators, the case reinforces long-standing accusations of excessive force and abusive practices during immigration raids carried out by federal ICE agents—keeping the ICE agent violent past debate firmly in the national spotlight.
